| About Buck L. Upp |
|
Buck L. Upp the Clown has been with the City of Scottsdale since January, 2002. He began his career affiliated with the Glendale Police Department since his debut in October 1997, during National Crime Prevention Month. Buck and his pal Louie the Monkey have been performing all over State of Arizona.
He specializes in different themed safety shows. Currently, Buck is offering presentations under the title "Be Cool, Be Safe" with the categories: the "Stranger Danger Show", "The Drug Safety Show," and "Good Friends are not gang members". In order to keep up with the demand for his appearances, Buck only performs for elementary school audiences, grades K-3rd. At this time, he turns down requests for block party appearances. Buck is a founding member of the S.M.I.L.E. Clowns (Safety Magic In Law Enforcement). S.M.I.L.E. is an international organization that promotes the use of clowning, magic and puppetry to teach safety messages to children. For more information on S.M.I.L.E., please check the website: www.smileclowns.org Buck hosted the June 2000 episode of "When Duty Calls" on KGLN Channel 11 (city access cable show) with Steamer the Clown from the Glendale Fire Department. If you catch it on re-runs, you'll be able to see the 48 Plymouth police car (pictured above) restored by Officer Dan Kallberg of the Glendale Police Department! |
